Kota Kinabalu City Wetland Center is situated just two kilometers north-east of Kota KInabalu, the 24-hectare (60 acres). Kota Kinabalu City Wetland Center or KKCWC is the only remaining patch of extensive mangrove forest that once existed in much of the coastal town of Kota Kinabalu. KKCWC is not only strategically situated but is an environmental education center serving both local and international visitors interested in wetlands, flora and fauna.

As an environmental education centre, it provides for urban recreation, nature and brackish water to give a home to many birds, crabs, prawns and fishes. The site is a migratory species from Northern Asia. So far, more than 80 species of birds have been identified at the sanctuary.

For those who enjoy bird watching, this is a visit to schedule in your diary. You will be rewarded with the beauty and splendour of the birds and other wildlife that thrive in the mangrove.
